Calendar of Events

National Farm Broadcasters Convention, November 14-18, 2001. It will be held in Kansas City, MO. AAM will have a booth at the convention and will plan to have a delegates meeting on November 17, in the Kansas City area.

AAM National Convention, January 24-27, 2002 At the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City, OK. Room rates are $58.00 single/double. Call 800-522-6620 for reservations. There will be Executive Board and Delegates meetings on January 25th. The convention will start on Friday, January 26th.

South Dakota News
   
South Dakota AAM held its quarterly meeting on March 24 at the Rainbow Cafe in Chamberlain.

President, Jim Wehde gave an update on the lawsuit that the Better Education for South Dakota organization has initiated.

Joyce gave everyone a report on the delegate meeting in D.C. on March 11 and the work the delegates did for the Alliance for Rural America. Coalitions are so important.
Discussion was also held on the leadership changes that have taken place within the SD Stockgrowers. They no longer support the NCBA (National Cattlemans Beef Association) and instead have put their support behind R-CALF.

As a state organization, AAM joined R-CALF . In their organizational goals, they address tariff and subsidy parity.
